Portland Place, South Yarra

house extension, interior design in collaboration with Lee Lambrou, 2010

This project provided an extension to a family home in South Yarra that opened out existing spaces to embrace conditions of the outside. The design responded through a series of interjecting and wrapping architectural forms that extrude from inside to outside conditions. Each of the internal projections formed joinery and retained services within, externally the projections informed the arrangement of windows and overhangs. A simple material palate wraps the continuous surface. Plywood panels form wall and joinery surfaces and capture light and shadow forms throughout the day.  Black Glass and vinyl are reflective elements within the space and  in also respond actively to changing environment inside and out.
